I'm sure that many wedding photographers have Walcot Hall in Shropshire on their wish list of venues to shoot at, so I can't begin to tell you how pleased I was to be invited by Catherine and Paul to photograph their wedding day at this beautiful venue.
As you can see the weather was perfect with a mixture of sunshine and clouds and Catherine and Paul and their family and friends offered me a warm welcome on the day. I love shooting outdoor weddings, they definitely create a unique feel to the ceremony and with such a stunning backdrop Catherine and Paul's wedding day simply could not have looked any more spectacular. It was an emotional ceremony full of laughter and tears along with beautiful readings and yes, that setting!
After the ceremony we set off to explore Walcot Hall and to visit just some of the amazing locations on offer to use as a backdrop for the bride and groom portraits. The Chapel, with it's eye-catching combination of green and red is actually one of Walcot Hall's holiday cottages, it creates a simply unique backdrop for photography.
As a photographer who used to shoot film before crossing over to digital, I love to re-create a film look to my images, even trying to replicate the look that I used to create using large plate cameras taking me back to my days as a photography student. If I see the right combination of setting, style of wedding dress and soft window light then I can often create the look through a process of lens choice and editing. You can see an example of this with the black and white image of Catherine .. image 14.
With huge thanks to Catherine and Paul and to the helpful and friendly staff at Walcot Hall in Shropshire for such a wonderful day, I really hope that I can visit this venue again soon.
